Christian Louboutin Says He's "Vaguely Horrified" Seeing His Shoes On Some People

Posted by

London, England – Christian Louboutin’s line of footwear may be one of the most namechecked fashion items in hip hop. Even before Cardi B was talking about her “red bottoms,” top-tier artists like Lil Kim, Foxy Brown and even JAY-Z and Fabolous mentioned the French designer’s high-profile shoes and heels.

While it might seem like the French designer should be over the moon about the free advertising he’s received from these icons and others, he’s expressed a bit of concern about how people choose to rock his kicks.

Speaking at a London press event in conjunction with an upcoming show at Palais de la Porte Dorée in Paris, Louboutin admitted to being “vaguely horrified” at times by how people wear his shoes.

Louboutin didn’t go into any specific detail regarding what he finds so objectionable, nor did he namecheck any specific people.

Perhaps aiming to not alienate his customers, Louboutin concluded that how people wore his shoes was up to them, not him.

“If I thought people should wear a shoe in a very specific way, I would probably do a proposal for that,” Louboutin said.

He went on to specify that he is “not a clothes designer” and that has never been his desire. He also mentioned being “happily surprised” by how some customers style his shoes.

Since his iconic red-soled shoes debuted in 1993, Louboutin has been a force in the fashion industry. Other items sold by his brand include fragrances, bags, lipstick, and nail polish. He currently has an estimated net worth of $85 million.
