Atlanta, GA – T.I. is continuing his work with Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms as part of a 25-member task force employed to repurpose the Atlanta City Detention Center, according to CNN.

On Tuesday (July 2), Bottoms issued a press release explaining the objective is to convert the jail into a “multi-faceted use center for wellness and healing, skills-building, economic mobility and crime prevention.”

She added, “This Task Force reflects strong local leadership, willing to help us progress towards a safer, and just city. It is my hope this building will serve as an epicenter for resources, education, and training for the community.

“With the help of these members, I am optimistic that what is reimagined will be the future of One Atlanta.”

Tip has been consistently vocal and active about criminal justice reform. In January 2018, Killer Mike and the Hustle Gang boss joined Bottoms’ transition team to tackle the city’s issues with crime, affordable housing, and to strengthen the education system.

More recently, he helped post bail for 23 non-violent inmates.

Harris has been commended and awarded for his community engagement. The Georgia State Senate honored him for his philanthropic contributions in March and he also received the ASCAP Voice of the Culture Award in May for his significant contributions to music and activism.
