Waka Flocka Flame Concert Canceled Following Deadly Shooting At UNC Charlotte

Charlotte, NC – Waka Flocka Flame was forced to cancel a free concert for University of North Carolina-Charlotte students after a deadly shooting on campus. On Tuesday (April 30), a gunman — identified as 22-year-old Trystan Andrew Terrell — opened fire, killing two people and injuring four others.

According to the New York Times, the six victims were all students at the university. The scheduled concert, which was originally to take place at UNC’s Jerry Richardson Stadium on Tuesday night, was canceled as a result of this latest school shooting. The university was on lock down the entire day.

Waka Flocka issued a statement to his Instagram account, praying for the victims and their families.

“I pray all my fans are safe and ok!” he wrote. “It sure what’s going on, I just landed in Charlotte to terry [terrible] news! I will not be able to perform or even make it to the venue..please to all my supporters and followers be safe!”

Terrell was taken into custody following the incident. He was booked into local jail early on Wednesday (May 1) and charged with two counts of murder, four counts of attempted first degree murder, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm on an educational property and discharging a firearm on an educational property.
