Corey Feldman Defends Michael Jackson In Wake Of "Leaving Neverland" Documentary

Twitter – HBO aired Part 1 of its Michael Jackson documentary, Leaving Neverland, on Sunday night (March 3). The series centers around Wade Robson and James Safechuck, who both allege the King of Pop sexually abused them at ages 7 and 10, respectively.

Former child star and Jackson’s close friend Corey Feldman evidently watched the episode and had a huge problem with the way Jackson was portrayed. In a series of emotional, all caps tweets, Feldman blasted the “poorly made” documentary.

“OK I WATCHED IT ALL I KNOW IS WHAT I EXPERIENCED, & YES EVERY EXPERIENCE WAS THE SAME….RIGHT UP 2 THE SEX PART!” he wrote. “THAT IS WHERE IT BECOMES LALA LAND, INSTEAD OF NEVERLAND 4 ME. WE NEVER SPOKE ABOUT SEX OTHER THAN A FEW WARNINGS ABOUT HOW SEX WAS SCARY, & DANGEROUS. MJ.

“NEVER ONCE SWORE IN MY PRESENCE, NEVER TOUCHED ME INAPPROPRIATELY, & NEVER EVER SUGGESTED WE SHOULD BE LOVERS IN ANY WAY! I FEEL LIKE IF PPL COULD HEAR OUR CONVOS THEY WOULD HEAR THE INNOCENCE IN THEM. NO HINT OF PERVERSION.”

As he continued, Feldman revealed he’s holding on to some kind of tape that would demonstrate the kind of relationship the then-13-year-old Feldman had with the 30-year-old pop star.

“I HAV A TAPE, IM THINKIN ABOUT RELEASING, WHICH COULD GIV PPL A REAL LOOK @ WHAT A 30 YR OLD MAN/CHILD & A 13 YR OLD BOY WOULD DISCUSS, SO EVERY1 COULD HEAR THE INNOCENCE OF R RELATIONSHIP,” he said :AGAIN I WASNT THERE WHEN THOSE BOYS WERE. BUT I WAS THERE AROUND THE SAME TIME AS JIMMY.

“& I SAW MANY KIDS AROUND (GIRLS INCLUDED) WHO I AM STILL FRIENDS WITH 2 THIS DAY, & NONE OF US WERE EVER APPROACHED BY HIM IN A SEXUAL WAY AT ALL! SO AS MUCH AS THOSE 2 MEN DESERVE 2 HAV THEIR VOICES HEARD, SO DO THE THOUSANDS OF KIDS WHO HUNG AROUND HIM, THAT DONT AGREE! MOST PEDOS R SERIAL OFFENDERS. THEY DONT HAV SELF CONTROL.”

Feldman went on to question how an accused pedophile would be able to resist the many young boys who often stayed at his Neverland Ranch. He also wondered why — if Robson and Safechuck were truly molested by Jackson — the two men defended Jackson in court as adults.

“SO GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY WHICH HE CERTAINLY HAD W ME & OTHERS, BEING ALONE, W NO PARENTS AROUND, HOW DID HE CONTROL THOSE URGES SO WELL, WHILE SO BLATANTLY SEXUAL W THOSE 2 BOYS? IT DOESNT REALLY FIT THE PROFILE. BUT WHAT MOTIVE BESIDES $ DO THEY HAV? ABANDONMENT IS A STRONG 1!

“HOWEVER I DO TAKE ISSUE WITH THE FACT THAT THIS WHOLE THING IS 1 SIDED W NO CHANCE OF A DEFENSE FROM A DEAD MAN, & NO EVIDENCE OTHER THAN THE WORD OF 2 MEN WHO AS ADULTS DEFENDED HIM IN COURT!”

The Goonies actor ended his tirade on a positive note and said he was praying for Robson and Safechuck.

“MY MEMORIES. AND THANK GOD 4 ME, MY MEMORIES OF MJ WERE MOSTLY FOND,” he wrote. “ASIDE FROM R 1 & ONLY FIGHT BECAUSE HE INCORRECTLY FEARED I WOULD TURN ON HIM, & MAKE UP LIES. I NEVER DID. I NEVER WOULD! I PRAY THOSE BOYS CAN SLEEP W THAT SAME CLARITY OF CONSCIOUSNESS! LET GOD B THY JUDGE!”

In an interview with HipHopDX last year, Feldman recalled his time with Jackson and seemingly had nothing but warm memories of the late superstar.

“Back then, I would have loved to trade lives with Michael Jackson for just one day,” he said. “I would do anything. When I was 13, 14, 15 — he was it. He was everything. The fact that he was my friend, I just felt so lucky, so honored — what a lucky guy I was to have this amazing pop star at my finger tips basically. I knew one day I could learn and become that great, but those are hard shoes to fill.”

Jackson’s estate has already taken legal action against the documentary, calling it “lies.”

Robson and Safechuck’s case was dismissed in December 2017. It’s currently under appeal.

Part 2 of Leaving Neverland airs on Monday (March 4).
