Los Angeles, CA – Rob $tone linked up with HipHopDX Editor-In-Chief Trent Clark at Comfort LA in downtown Los Angeles for the latest episode of DX’s Soulful Sundays. While enjoying a delicious meal, the 1207 member discussed everything from the success of his hit single “Chill Bill” to working with Zaytoven.
At one point in the conversation, Clark asked $tone about how he views his peers in Hip Hop. The platinum-selling rapper revealed he’s unimpressed with their lower standards and expressed disappointment with the lack of effort shown by many artists.

“I take music serious,” he noted. “I feel like a lot of niggas just going up in there, just sipping their drank, popping their pills, just going in the booth. I mean I’m watching niggas do it firsthand and straight up fits on weak-ass shit. And nobody around them is wanting to tell them it’s weak or they’re just cheating themselves, like shorting themselves, because the clout is cool. It’s a gang of bullshit, so I just try to steer away from artists like that now. [I] work with the real deal.”
Clark followed up by asking $tone if he thought there would be a shift back to higher quality work in the age of Instagram.
“Nah, ’cause all the OGs is co-signing it,” he said with a smirk. “So nah, I don’t see it changing.”
