Lil Uzi Vert's Rumored Album Art Nets Legal Threats From Heaven's Gate

It looks like Lil Uzi Vert has found beef in the most unexpected of places. This time around, his feud is with members of a cult that dates back to the 1970s.

On Tuesday (July 31), Uzi shared what looked like cover art for his next studio album, Eternal Atake. The image takes major inspiration from art associated with the Heaven’s Gate cult.

“Do you think This is Track list cover or real deal,” Lil Uzi Vert asks in the caption to the photo.

Heaven’s Gate gained notoriety in 1997 when leader Marshall Applewhite and 38 members of the group died by mass suicide in San Diego.

Two surviving members currently maintain the Heaven’s Gate website and sent a comment to Genius about Uzi’s image.

“He is using and adapting our copyrights and trademarks without our permission and the infringement will be taken up with our attorneys. This is not fair use or parody, it it a direct and clear infringement.”

On Wednesday (August 1), Uzi shared a less controversial image that could be an alternative for Eternal Atake‘s cover.
