Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department has issued a statement addressing Tupac Shakur’s murder case.
After the alleged shooter’s uncle, Duane “Keffe D” Davis, claimed the fatal shots were fired from the back seat of his car during an interview for BET’s Death Row Chronicles, a petition began to circulate imploring the LVPD to clear the case. But, the LVPD has decided to keep the case open.
“We are aware of the statements made in the BET interview regarding the Tupac case,” the statement reads. “As a result of those statements we have spent the last several months reviewing the case in its entirety. Various reports that an arrest warrant is about to be submitted are inaccurate. This case still remains an open homicide case.”

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Davis, who was driving the car at the time of the shooting, explained his decision to confess to his role in Tupac’s murder.
“People have been pursuing me for 20 years, I’m coming out now because I have cancer, and I have nothing else to lose,” he said. “All I care about now is the truth.”

The petition, which was launched in February, stated, “It is time for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to declare that the Tupac Shakur murder case has been ‘cleared,’ and to finally bring closure for Shakur’s family, friends and fans.
“We are not demanding that Davis be arrested; that is for our justice system to decide. But it is a charade for law enforcement to continue to pretend that we still don’t know who killed Tupac Shakur.”
Tupac was fatally shot in 1996. Davis’ nephew, Orlando Anderson, denied any involvement in the Hip Hop legend’s murder despite being a prime suspect. Anderson was killed in 1998 in a gang-related shooting.
