Juice Wrld used Sting’s “Shape Of My Heart” for his massive hit “Lucid Dreams,” introducing The Police frontman’s music to an entirely new audience. In an exclusive statement to Billboard, Sting spoke on the 21-year-old’s recent death and heavily praised the song.

“This is such a tragic loss for the world of music, a young life with so much potential and a unique and precious talent,” he said. “‘Lucid Dreams’ was my favorite of all the many interpolations of ‘Shape of My Heart,’ it will resonate for many years to come. My sincere condolences to the family.”

Through his reps, Sting also confirmed the lawsuit rumors surrounding “Lucid Dreams” were “simply untrue.”

Upon its release last year, “Lucid Dreams” reached the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 100 chart and No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. At the time, Sting called the song a “beautiful interpretation that is faithful to the original song’s form,” while joking the royalties will “put my grandkids through college.”

Juice Wrld passed away on Sunday (December 8) after suffering a fatal seizure. Prior to his death, he reportedly swallowed several Percocets.
