Longtime foes Kanye West and Taylor Swift were both scheduled to drop albums on Friday (July 24). But one delivered and one didn’t — and not a single Hip Hop fan was shocked. Meanwhile, pop music fans were treated to a new Swift album called Folklore while Kanye’s remaining fanbase was met with yet another disappointment.
Swift announced the surprise album on Thursday (July 23) and it arrived several hours later, selling 1.3 million copies in less than 24 hours. Her ever-loyal fans dove in head first and dissected the project line-by-line only to discover — ah, what’s this? — Swift just dissed Kanye, at least that’s what they think.

On the song “Peace,” Swift sings, “But there’s robbers to the east/Clowns to the West.” In the lyric video accompanying the track, “east” is in lowercase letters but “West” begins with a capital “W,” leading Twitter users to believe she’s referring to Kanye.
In peace Taylor Swift capitalized West and not east and no one can convince me that she isn’t calling Kanye a clown. Thank u for coming to my ted talk #Folkore pic.twitter.com/My9jkyjImm

I’m so sorry but I think I couldn’t ignore how Miss Taylor Swift roasted Kanye West, Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun with a peaceful and calming song.😭
“But there’s robbers to the east
Clowns to the West.”
Song title: peace 🖤

Kanye and Swift’s tumultuous past dates back to 2009 when the YEEZY mogul snatched the microphone from Swift as she was accepting a Moon Man Award at the MTV Video Music Awards. While thanking the crowd for the Best Video by a Female Artist win, Ye interrupted and said, “I’ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time! One of the best videos of all time!”
Then in 2016, Kanye dropped The Life of Pablo track “Famous” in which he raps, “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex/Why? I made that bitch famous (God damn).”
When the song came out, Swift was blindsided by the fact he called her a “bitch,” despite having a phone call about it prior to its release. In July 2016, Ye’s wife Kim Kardashian released snippets of the conversation in an effort to prove Swift was well aware of the line, but the full, unedited recording eventually made its way to the internet in March and showed Swift had been telling the truth the entire time.
If Swift did diss Kanye on “Peace,” it’s not a mystery as why she would.
