YG Fires Back At Anyone Criticizing His 'FTP' Video Shoot At L.A. Protest

Los Angeles, CA – YG scheduled his own Los Angeles protest on Sunday (June 7) at 4 p.m. local time and used the opportunity to shoot a music video for his latest single “Fuck The Police” — and not everybody was feeling it.

Fellow MC Chika called out the Compton native for inopportune timing on Twitter, writing, “shooting a music video while breonna taylor’s killers are still walking the streets is fucking disgusting.”

And she wasn’t alone in her sentiments. Subsequently, YG addressed the criticism in the wee hours of Monday (June 8).

“For anyone out there talking I don’t question your advocacy and don’t think you should question mine,” he wrote. “The real story here is me and Black Lives Matter brought out 50,000 people today to peacefully protest and unite for change.”

YG added, “That is history. That is breaking down these stereotypes on our people & our neighborhoods. All of us protesting are on the same side here..instead of questioning each other’s activism we should be directing that energy at the cops & the government & helping to create the change.

“Stay focused & stop that social media judgement without knowing facts & hurting a cause we all is apart of. We got a real enemy and it ain’t each other!”

YG dropped “Fuck The Police” last week. Produced by Swish and Larry Jayy, the track finds YG “tired of being tired of being tired” after watching another black person die at the hands of a police officer.

“It’s the Ku Klux cops, they on a mission,” he raps in part. “It’s the Ku Klux cops, got hidden agendas/It’s the truth, I won’t stop/Open cases, police already hate me, why not/Make your rich-ass city look like trash/To whoever make the rules, we need answers fast/Oh they mad, fuck it, let’s make ’em mad/Without that badge you’s a bitch and a half.”
