Atlanta, GA – The state of Georgia started its reopening phase on Friday (April 24) despite coronavirus concerns. As reported by CNN, Governor Brian Kemp gave the green light to hair and nail salons, barbershops, massage businesses and gyms to start services clients once again.

But like Killer Mike, who decided not to reopen his S.W.A.G. barbershops, 2 Chainz is opting to keep the doors to his Escobar Restaurant closed. On Monday (April 27), the rapper formerly known as Tity Boi shared a video to his Twitter account revealing he was donating food to the Atlanta homeless population instead.

He wrote in the caption, “Instead of opening Escobar Restaurant up today we decided to feed the homeless.”

Chainz’s business partner and co-owner Snoop Dillard originally told TMZ they would reopen along with other Atlanta-based businesses but following public backlash, they soon had a change of heart.

“After careful consideration, we are not going to open our restaurants on Monday,” Dillard told the outlet. “It has not officially been decided when we will start having dine-in service.”

Killer Mike Won’t Reopen His Barbershops Despite Georgia Governor Allowing It

The U.S. map on the CDC’s site shows Georgia is a red state, meaning it has at least 10,001 reported cases of the coronavirus.

The Georgia Department of Public Health website notes there are currently 24,225 reported cases and 994 coronavirus-related deaths in the state. Fulton County, where Atlanta is, has the most cases out of any county.
