Summer Walker Declares "I Do Not Sing On Couches" After Being Booed At Club Appearance

Elizabeth, NJ – Summer Walker’s bookings continue to be a source of trouble for the R&B singer. After cutting her tour short last month, the Interscope Records artist found herself in an awkward situation when fans booed her at a club appearance in New Jersey on Friday (December 6).

Fans in attendance believed they were going to get to see Walker perform at the nightclub XL Nightlife, but she asserted she was only booked for a hosting appearance.

“Aye look, y’all gotta stop letting these promoters finesse y’all,” she wrote on Instagram. “I DO NOT, ‘I REPEAT, I DO NOT’ sing on couches. Put some respect on my name if you would like to see me perform I’ll be at Terminal 5 on the 7th & 8th & Jimmy Fallon on the 9th, that’s where you can see me perform. Thank y’all for whoever came to see me at the Jersey WALK THROUGH, I appreciate it.”

In the caption, she added, “Hey reading is fundamental, there was nothing on there about no ‘performance.’”

But the promoter of the club appearance claimed Walker was booked to host and perform a few songs. He posted screenshots of their alleged contract on Instagram but later deleted them.

Walker responded by claiming the deal was fake and saying the promoter would get sued. She also shared her own screenshot of his page prior to him deleting the contract posts.

“He literally had told y’all it wasn’t a performance, I don’t understand why I have to do this stupid shit with plp,” she wrote. “I be minding my business.”

The promoter argued his case by posting a video from the club appearance showing Walker — with a microphone in hand — half-heartedly singing “Girls Need Love.”

“If this is a fake deal why grab the mic and do this?” he wrote. “Keeping it 100 She got boo’d and tried to blame me that I didn’t book her for a show. We all know she wasn’t booked for a show. (As to why my date wasn’t on her tour list) If you know the business you know it’s a difference between a show and a hosting with songs.

“To people that don’t know the business educate yourself before you formulate an opinion on what’s going on. But I appreciate everyone who came out and my apologies to anyone who didn’t feel satisfied with the event, definitely not my fault but I appreciate y’all. #jersey.”

The promoter also claimed he made it clear it wasn’t a show but contended Walker was contractually obligated to perform a few songs. He additionally said he took down the screenshots of the contract because her manager allegedly begged him to do so and asserted everything would be settled in court.
