Electro-Hip Hop pioneer Egyptian Lover has been igniting dance floors across the world for nearly 40 years — a massive feat for any artist.
Now, the Los Angeles- based artist is back with his latest tour de force, a video for “The World Keeps Turning” featuring Newcleus. It effortlessly continues the Egyptian Lover sound, which he established in 1984 with his first album, On The Nile.

“Call it what you want,” he told HipHopDX in January. “I just keep doing what I love. It’s all about the beat. Being a DJ back in the early ’80s, I saw what made people have a good time. That uptempo 808 is timeless and I work that machine to death.”
Directed by Ralph Jimenez, the video stars all Newcleus members Cozmo D, Lady E and Al T McLaran as well as Edenia Archuleta, Jamie Jupiter, Brian Ellis and Ghost.
In the YouTube caption, Egyptian Lover gives a special shout out to Chilly B of Newcleus, who died in 2010.
“Chilly B passed away,” Mr. Lover tells DX. “Newcleus and I have been friends for awhile now and I thought it would be great to do a song together for the fans. The video was the icing on the old school cake. We just wish Chilly B could be here to be a part of it.”
“The World Keeps Turning” is taken from Egyptian Lover’s 1985 album, which also features Juan Atkins and DJ Qbert.
