HipHopDX Premiere – Philadelphia native Dark Lo spent his formative years going in and out of prison, but once he met fellow Philly rapper AR-AB, he switched directions and started getting heavily into Hip Hop.

Over the past several years, Lo has dropped multiple albums, including The Crook, SK Tales, Darkaveli, and Ron Harvey Jr.

Fast-forward to 2019 and the now seasoned MC is back with a new single “American Made,” which serves as the title track of his forthcoming album and follow-up to “Ripped Apart” featuring Benny The Butcher. The concept is based on a rough experience Lo had as a kid.

“When I was 11 or 12, a friend of mine was killed by gunfire that wasn’t meant for him,” Lo tells HipHopDX. “When my classmates and I cried in class the next day and asked God why, our teacher made a statement to us and told us we were ‘American Made’ — and there wasn’t much we could do about it, because our slave masters trained us to hate each other for centuries.

“The teacher then referred us to a book about the Willie Lynch [white slave owner] speech and at a very young age, I understood that my people had been stripped of everything — our culture, our last names, and so much more. That makes us ‘American Made.’”

The American Made album is expected to arrive on October 4. Pre-orders are available here.
