The Eminem Show currently sits at 357 weeks while good kid, m.A.A.d city is at 358 weeks.

good kid, m.A.A.d city served as K. Dot’s sophomore album and follow-up to 2011’s Section .80. The project dropped on October 22, 2012 and debuted at No. 2, selling roughly 242,000 copies in its inaugural week.

On the flip side, The Eminem Show was released in 2002 and debuted at No. 1 in not only the U.S. but also in 18 other countries. The project was certified diamond by the RIAA in 2011, his second album to receive the rare distinction.

Eminem called good kid, m.A.A.d city a “masterpiece” in 2016.

“When I first heard Kendrick’s debut on Aftermath, I couldn’t believe it,” he wrote on Genius. “The fact that it was his first real album and he was able to make it a story which intertwines with the skits like that was genius.

“That hasn’t really been done that many times, let alone on someone’s first time up. The level of wordplay, the deliveries, the beats — it’s just a masterpiece.”

Kendrick Lamar’s 2012 sophomore album good kid, m.A.A.d city has apparently tied a Billboard record belonging to Eminem.

On Monday (July 15), Chart Data fired off a tweet proclaiming, “@kendricklamar’s ‘good kid, m.A.A.d city’ has now spent 350 weeks on the Billboard 200. It joins ‘The Eminem Show’ as the only hip-hop studio album to reach this milestone.”

good kid, m.A.A.d city followed Lamar’s 2011 debut, Section .80.

Upon its release, the Aftermath/TDE project hit the Billboard 200 chart at No. 2, selling roughly 242,000 copies in its first week. As a result, it became the highest first-week Hip Hop album sales of that year from a male artist as well as the best-selling debut from a male artist.

The album boasted features from Dr. Dre, Drake, Jay Rock and Compton’s Most Wanted vet MC Eiht, among others.

By comparison, The Eminem Show was released in 2002 and served as Shady’s fourth studio album. It debuted at No. 1 on not only the Billboard 200 chart but in 18 other countries as well.

In 2011, the project earned diamond status from the RIAA — Em’s second album to achieve the prestigious distinction. (2000’s Marshall Mathers LP was also certified diamond in 2011.)

The Eminem Show yielded several massive singles, including “White America” and “Without Me.”
