Chance The Rapper Postpones The Big Day Tour

Chance The Rapper won’t be embarking on The Big Day Tour until 2020. The Grammy-winning artist has postponed his tour, which was originally scheduled to start this Friday (September 13), for personal reasons.

“I thought it over for the past week and I’ve decided to push back my tour,” he announced via Instagram. “This year has been one of the greatest of my life; Marriage, new baby, first album etc. But with it being so eventful it has also been very strenuous having to divide my time and energy between family and work.”

He continued, “When Kensli was born, I went on tour 2 weeks later and missed some of the most important milestones in her life, but more importantly I was absent when her mother needed me the most. At this point as a husband and father of two I realize that I can’t make that mistake again. I need to be as helpful and available as possible to my wife in these early months of raising Kensli and Marli.”

The Big Day Tour has been rebooked to begin in San Diego on January 15, 2020. Chance will still be performing in his hometown of Chicago on September 28 as originally planned. He’ll also honor his commitments to upcoming festival dates in Las Vegas and Miami.

“I apologize because I know how many people were counting on seeing me soon, but I hope you’ll understand and forgive me in time,” he wrote. “Tour kicks off Jan. 15th and you can still get tix or your refund if you are unavailable at & a few of the shows are still being rescheduled as well so stay tuned. I love you guys AND LITERALLY CANT WAIT FOR U TO WITNESS THIS SHOW.”

Chance The Rapper has announced The Big Day Tour is heading to 35 U.S. cities. The run kicks off on September 13 in San Francisco and wraps up in Miami on November 10.

According to a press release, “special guests” performers for the show will be announced. The concerts are in support of his slightly delayed 22-track album The Big Day. The project marks the follow-up to his 2016 Grammy Award-winning mixtape Coloring Book.

The album title and music are based on the vibes from his wedding day. Nicki Minaj, DaBaby, Megan Thee Stallion, SWV and Ari Lennox are among the many guests on the project.

Tickets for The Big Day Tour go on sale to the general public on Friday (August 2) at 10 a.m. local time and pre-sale tickets are available now. Both options are available for purchase here.
