Jamie Foxx & Questlove To Star In Pixar’s Animated “Soul”

Anaheim, CA – Jamie Foxx and Questlove are widely known as talented souls musicians with a strong presence in the comedy world.

According to Variety, animated film production company Pixar announced at Disney’s D23 Expo on Saturday (August 24) that its upcoming comedy film Soul will feature the actor/comedian/singer Foxx and the resident drummer of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.

This will be The Roots founding member Questlove’s fifth feature film appearance.

The film will also include voiceover acting from Tina Fey, Phylicia Rashad, and Daveed Diggs. Also, Academy Award-winning composer and Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor will score the film with his bandmate Atticus Ross.

The plot of Soul revolves around the mysticism of the Guf, or Treasury of Souls located in heaven and that every human on earth has a pre-installed soul shaped specifically for them before birth. Foxx plays a middle music school teacher named “Joe” who dreams of performing at legendary New York jazz club The Blue Note.

Joe suddenly falls into an open sewer grate and slips back into his soul form the cosmic realm and some existential work is required before achieving his goal to play at the venue.

“Soul” will debut in theaters on June 19, 2020.
