Dayton, OH – Kanye West surprised Dayton, Ohio with a special edition of Sunday Service in the wake of the mass shooting that left nine dead and 27 injured earlier this month.

West was accompanied by his wife Kim Kardashian and their children at Sunday’s event (August 25). Dave Chappelle and Chris Rock were also in attendance, as well as a large local crowd at the RiverScape MetoPark.

“We’ve been through a tough time,” Chappelle told the crowd. “There’s been tornados, there’s been Klan rallies, there’s been shooting, but we’re still here, we’re still strong. The best way to honor our fallen is getting up better than we were before.”

West and Chappelle met up Saturday (August 24) to celebrate Chappelle’s 46th birthday, where Kanye and a crowd serenaded Chappelle with a Stevie Wonder-version of “Happy Birthday.”
