The Black Panther soundtrack couldn’t be held down for long. After slipping to #2 on last week’s Billboard 200 chart, Black Panther: The Album has ascended to #1 once again.
Hip Hop also delivered some strong debuts on this latest chart via Tory Lanez’s Memories Don’t Die and Tech N9ne’s Planet. Rap maintained a stranglehold on the Top 10 too, holding down six spots.
Black Panther Is #1 Again
Black Panther’s dominance at the box office has carried over to the music charts. The hit film’s soundtrack returned to the top spot on the Billboard 200 after falling to #2 the previous week.
The Kendrick Lamar and Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith-curated LP has been #1 for three of its four weeks on the chart. The album moved 76,370 total album equivalent units.
Tory Lanez Debuts At #3
Tory Lanez’s Memories Don’t Die album was the biggest debut of the week, landing at #3 via 53,861 total album equivalent units. 15,024 of those came in pure album sales.
The Toronto artist’s sophomore LP features an array of high-profile guests, including 50 Cent, Future and Wiz Khalifa. AraabMuzik, Happy Perez and Cashmere Cat were among the producers.
Tech N9ne Cracks Top 15
Strange Music fans continue to prove their loyalty with their wallets. Tech N9ne’s latest album, Planet, debuted at #14 thanks to 15,906 in pure album sales.
Tech moved 21,412 total album equivalent units with Planet, which is his first solo project since 2016’s The Storm. In April, the independent stalwart will embark on a tour in support of the album. Check out the dates here.
